Igatpuri sits in the Sahyadri mountains where the Mumbai plateau drops into the Western Ghats, a place of mist, waterfalls and very little noise. It is about three hours from Mumbai and forty five minutes from Nashik.
This is hill country at its most dramatic in the monsoon, when the valleys fill with cloud and the slopes run with water. It is home to Dhamma Giri, one of the world's largest Vipassana meditation centres, and a short drive from Bhandardara lake and the Camel Valley viewpoints.
Our Igatpuri villas are picked for the view and the quiet: glass that opens to the hills, a pool above the valley, and the feeling of being a long way from the city without the long drive.
Best time to visit
June to September for the full monsoon, green hills and low cloud. October to February is cooler and clearer, lovely for walks and slow mornings on the deck.
Getting there
About 120 km from Mumbai, roughly three hours by road, and only forty five minutes to an hour from Nashik. The nearest major airport is Mumbai.
